2002 — The NCAA and CBS announce the Coca-Cola Company as the NCAA’s first corporate champion. As part of the first-of-its-kind deal under the NCAA’s new $6 billion bundled-rights agreement with CBS, Coca-Cola pays CBS more than $500 million for the 11-year marketing and media package. The agreement with Coca-Cola includes beverage (for example, soft drinks, juices, water, isotonics), marketing and media rights to 87 NCAA championships, including the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.
2002 (May 31-June 2) — For the first time, three separate division championships are conducted in women’s rowing. UC Davis wins both varsity Eight events and earns the maximum total of 50 points to capture the inaugural Division II title. The Ephs of Williams College claim the first Division III championship.

1992 (June) — The Freedom Forum-NCAA Sports Journalism Scholarship program is established by the NCAA Foundation and funded by The Freedom Forum with an initial gift of $150,000 to foster freedoms of speech and press while promoting quality sports journalism education at the collegiate level.

1987 (June 4) — Robin Ventura of Oklahoma State University has his 58-game hitting streak end in a game against Stanford University during the College World Series.

1982 (June) — Female student-athletes are eligible for NCAA postgraduate scholarships for the first time since the awards were established in 1964. Twenty of the 45 awards presented in “other” sports are designated for women.
30 years ago
1977 (June 22) — Home Box Office televises the College World Series Championship game.
