As part of the NCAA's expanding online communication with its membership, the printed biweekly NCAA News will transform into a redesigned online product beginning in January, giving members a variety of ways to receive the information they need.
The most immediate impact will be an enhanced www.NCAA.org that will feature daily updates on NCAA news and information. But users also can receive daily and weekly updates through NCAA News Direct, which provides registered members with complimentary access to news, video and exclusive podcasts delivered directly to their inboxes.
"NCAA News Direct allows members to get the information they want when they want it," said David Pickle, NCAA managing director of publishing. "Readers also have the flexibility to select the content they want on an Association-wide or by-division basis."
Subscribers to the daily version of NCAA News Direct will enjoy the convenience of having daily news sent directly to their inboxes.
The weekly NCAA News Direct will include a summary of the week's top stories, plus other content not necessarily included in the daily version. Members may choose either or both delivery methods.
Registration for NCAA News Direct begins December 17 at www.NCAA.org. NCAA News Direct will begin daily delivery Monday, January 7. The first weekly edition of NCAA News Direct will be sent Friday, January 11.
The redesigned NCAA.org will continue to feature breaking news and chronicle the Association’s governance structure. In addition, the refurbished site will offer much more in the way of new media, including podcasts, video and photo galleries. The redesign also will include a simpler navigation scheme for users to access information they use frequently.
Other enhancements beginning in January include a site devoted to the NCAA's new Champion magazine (www.NCAAChampionMagazine.org), a quarterly publication highlighting intercollegiate athletics issues and the people involved in the enterprise. The official NCAA blog, the Double-A Zone (www.doubleazone.com), also will be redesigned.
