Five directors appointed for various national office staffs

The NCAA national office has announced five hires at the director level: Bob Chichester and Jennifer Henderson in membership services, Ron English in Division I men’s basketball, Leigh Ann Price in business performance management, and Juan Rossello in legal affairs.

Chichester

nullFormerly the athletics director at the University of California, Irvine, Chichester will focus on supporting academic reform by helping Division I schools develop institutional Academic Progress Rate improvement plans. He also will administer the supplemental support fund and oversee initial-eligibility waivers.

Before being the AD at UC Irvine, Chichester was the senior associate athletics director for administration, academic affairs and Olympic sports at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He earned his bachelor’s degree in American studies in 1979 from Occidental College, where he competed in basketball and golf. He earned his juris doctor from Colorado in 1984.

Henderson

nullHenderson was promoted from her associate director position to replace Jennifer Strawley as director of student-athlete reinstatement. Strawley left the national office to become an associate athletics director at Columbia University-Barnard College.

Henderson previously served as an associate commissioner and general counsel at the Sun Belt Conference since 2004. This is her second stint at the national office after serving briefly as a membership services representative in 1999-2000. She also worked in compliance at the University of Washington and Ohio State University.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Miami University (Ohio), a master’s in sports administration from Ohio State and a juris doctor from the Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio.

English

nullA 22-year veteran of athletics administration, English has spent the last 15 in event management, operations, administration and television as an employee of the Ohio Valley Conference. He also served as chief operating officer at the conference office.
Before working with the OVC, English served for seven years as an assistant commissioner for communications with the Missouri Valley Conference, coordinating all media relations activity.

In his new position, English will direct game operations for all rounds of the tournament, serve as the main point of contact for the tournament managers and coordinate the training for all hosts.

Price

nullPrice takes on a new position in the administrative group that focuses on business and service-delivery processes and concepts. She brings more than 10 years of experience in finance, sales, marketing and operations with leaders in the consumer packaged goods industry, including PepsiCo, Keebler and Pepperidge Farm. Price also worked for seven years at American Airlines in finance and operations.

She has a business degree from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Rossello

nullJuan “Jay” Rossello comes to the national office from West Virginia University, where he worked as an associate general counsel. His areas of expertise include business and contract matters.

Before joining West Virginia’s legal staff, Rossello worked as in-house counsel in the telecommunications industry and for a law firm. He also is a former federal judicial clerk.

He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University (where he was a tennis student-athlete), his juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, and his MBA from Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Management.
