The National Association of Athletics Compliance Coordinators will hold an inaugural convention in conjunction with the 43rd annual National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics convention.

The NAACC, now in its 10th year, is the professional and educational association of athletics compliance coordinators.

The 2008 NAACC convention will be held June 7-9 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas and precede the June 9-12 NACDA meetings.

“Our association has grown significantly since joining NACDA in 1998,” said NAACC President Travis Feezell, director of athletics at Macalester College. “In 2006 and 2007, the NAACC held compliance workshops at Minnesota and Texas and received tremendous responses. The next logical step was to join the NACDA convention and continue to grow.”

The compliance workshops were conducted by peers in the compliance profession with the idea that all compliance professionals are searching for a better way to do some part of their compliance jobs. The workshops presented association members a networking opportunity to learn how others in the compliance field were monitoring calls and educating their coaches.

The workshops also looked at the establishment of compliance industry standards and how that affects the on-campus professional, as well as the NCAA enforcement staff and the Committee on Infractions.

At the most recent compliance workshop, ACS Athletics, Aprende Technology and Ice Miller LLP served as sponsors.

“The NAACC’s growth over the past few years and its participation at the 2008 convention  parallels NACDA’s mission statement,” said NACDA Senior Associate Executive Director Bob Vecchione. “In that way NACDA continues to provide educational opportunities while serving as a vehicle for networking, information exchange and advocacy on behalf of the profession to its affiliate associations.”
