Boyd, Huchthausen earn national office promotions
The NCAA News
The NCAA national office has announced two staff promotions — Jeanne Boyd from director of Division I men’s basketball to managing director and Amy Huchthausen from associate director of membership services to director.
Boyd has been with the NCAA staff since 2003, overseeing game operations for the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and serving as a national office liaison to host institutions and facilities throughout the championship, including the Final Four.
“Jeanne’s unique leadership qualities in her time overseeing game operations of the 2003 Men’s Final Four in New Orleans through her tenure at the national office since that time have set her apart,” said Greg Shaheen, NCAA senior vice president for basketball and business strategies. “Her personality and drive makes this a natural ‘fit’ for her.”
Boyd was an associate commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference before joining the NCAA staff in December 2003. Before that, she served as a health, education and human development instructor at Clemson University and then served from 1997 to 2000 as assistant director of event management at Louisiana State University, where she also served as an adjunct instructor.
Boyd holds a doctorate in education leadership and research from LSU, and she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health and human performance at the University of Florida, where she first became involved in athletics administration as a student volunteer.
Huchthausen will oversee the athletics certification program, as well as portions of the interpretations work performed in membership services.
She came to the NCAA in March 2006 after an 18-month stint with the America East Conference, where she worked in compliance and governance.
Before that, Huchthausen spent two years as assistant director of compliance and governance with the Atlantic Coast Conference. She also worked for two years as director of compliance at the Missouri Valley Conference. She joined the Missouri Valley after serving as a compliance assistant at the Big East Conference during the 1999-00 year.
A former member of the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet and the Division I Legislative Review and Interpretations Committee, Huchthausen also was a participant in the 2003-04 Sports Management Institute and the 2001 NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement.
She has a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, where she was a two-time captain and all-conference member of the softball team. As a student-athlete, she served on the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Division III Amateurism Task Force and the Division III Management Council.
