Corrections

The name of an individual champion at the 1921 NCAA track and field championships was missing from a list that accompanied a Top 25 Defining Moments feature in the July 17 issue of The NCAA News. Charles Redmon of the University of Chicago won the hammer throw at the championships. Also, University of Washington shot put and discus champion Gus Pope’s name was reported incorrectly in the article, but was correctly cited in the accompanying list.

Fiss captained the NFL-champion Cleveland Browns in 1964 … Georgia basketball player Kevin Brophy died in an automobile accident on Thursday, July 20 … Former Texas football standout Ray Dowdy died on Wednesday, July 26. Dowdy was a defensive tackle on the Longhorns’ 1970 national championship team … Former Alabama-Birmingham football student-athlete Kirk Tuck died last month after battling leukemia.
