Before its January 10 home game against Millikin University, the Illinois Wesleyan University women’s basketball team contributed to the Coaches vs. Cancer fund in the name of physics professor Linda French (center). French, a cancer survivor, is a longtime supporter of Illinois Wesleyan women’s basketball with a regular seat directly behind the bench. Team members and coaches raised donations, and Illinois Wesleyan head coach Mia Smith (right) presented the proceeds to Millikin coach Lori Kerans (left), a cancer survivor active in the Coaches vs. Cancer program. Coaches vs. Cancer is a community-funded program designed to reduce youth risk of cancer by focusing on research, prevention, education and patient services of the American Cancer Society.
