Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s Robyn Jarocki capped a sterling collegiate career with a record-shattering throw in the shot put and led the Titans to a record seventh team title at the Division III Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 25-27 at Benedictine (Illinois).

Jarocki — who collected a total of 10 indoor and outdoor titles as the major contributor to the Titans’ last two outdoor victories as well as three straight indoor crowns — became the first competitor to top 55 feet in the shot put as her team outpaced runner-up Williams by 10 points.

She also won the discus throw and finished second in the hammer throw — behind a record performance by defending champion Keelin Godsey of Bates — to score 28 of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s 52 points at the meet.

Jarocki’s shot toss of 16.77 meters (55 feet, 1/4 inch) was nearly three feet better than Elizabeth Wanless’ record throw for Bates two years ago. It was an impressive way to close out a career, though Jarocki said the finality hadn’t yet set in.

“I don’t think it really hits you that your career is over until you are back home and all the banquets and everything are done,” she said.

Another Wisconsin-Oshkosh senior, Danielle Rankin, also made a major contribution to the effort as one of three other Titans who collected important points in individual competition.

Rankin finished third in the hammer throw and sixth in the shot put, while junior Nadine Pieski took second in the 400-meter dash and sophomore Rebecca Masephol beat her qualifying toss in the hammer throw by more than 10 feet to finish fifth in that event.

Three women joined Jarocki as double titlists at the meet, including Sheana Grigsby of Carthage, who won her third straight 100-meter hurdles crown and added a first-time victory in the 400-meter hurdles. Grigsby also is a three-time indoor winner in the 55-meter hurdles.

Also claiming two titles each were Amber Druien of North Central (Illinois) in the 800- and 1,500-meter runs and Caroline Cretti of Williams in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs.

In addition to the record performances by Jarocki and Godsey, new meet marks were posted by Amanda Kuca of Concordia (Wisconsin) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and in the 400-meter relay by CCNY — whose second-leg runner, Alecia Watson, also completed an indoor-outdoor sweep of the triple jump.
