Division III Wrestling Championships

 

Dates and site: The College of New Jersey will host the championships March 3-4 at the Athletic Recreation Center in Ewing, New Jersey.

 

Field: A total of 160 competitors will be determined through regional qualifying tournaments.

 

Qualifying dates: February 18-19.

 

2005 team champion: Augsburg.

 

Top team contenders: Wartburg, Augsburg, Luther, Brockport State, Wisconsin-La Crosse.

 

Championships notes: Wartburg hasn’t lost a dual match in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference since the 1993-94 season ... Augsburg has won nine national championships since 1991 ... Luther’s Matt Pyle is the reigning national champion at 149 pounds ... Themat.com named Brockport State senior heavyweight Pat Bennett national wrestler of the week ending January 22 ... Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestlers Jason Lulloff (184 pounds) and Ryan Allen (heavyweight) were ranked second nationally in their weight classes by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as of February 3.
