Alvernia College used funds from an NCAA Division III Initiatives Grant to host a Community Youth Field Day. The schedule included five groups of kids rotating through eight events that incorporate most of the 15 varsity sports.  The gym was filled with the sound of dribbling basketballs, while the outdoor rec center was bustling with beach ball volleyball. The softball and field hockey fields were hosting golf and tee-ball events as well as foam-ball hockey and a water-soaked relay event. Meanwhile, the action on Schlager Memorial Field was a football/soccer hybrid that had local youngsters claming to be NFL superstars.
