National office set to release new graduation-rates data

Dec 5, 2005 11:45:50 AM

The NCAA national office will release each Division I institution's federal graduation rates and NCAA Graduation/Success Rate (GSR) data in a two-phased approach as the Division I Board of Directors discussed in October. The following are the release dates and information that will be provided:

  • Monday, December 19 -- Release of Graduation/Success Rate team information. This will not include an institution's overall GSR, but will include each team's GSR. No federal graduation rates data will be released at this time.
  • Thursday, January 19 -- Release of overall GSR and federal graduation-rate data for each institution. This will include the federal data and overall GSR for each institution, as well as breakdowns by gender and race.

The purpose of the two-tiered approach is in part to focus attention on the importance of team performance first.

The staff anticipates that the second year of Academic Progress Rate (APR) data will be made public in February. More information will be provided about the release of APR data closer to the actual release date.

Questions regarding the public release of graduation-rate data may be directed to Maria DeJulio with the NCAA research staff. She may be contacted at mdejulio@ncaa.org.
