Chief executive officers
Robert N. Freeman announced plans to retire as president at Glenville State, effective June 30 ... Baylor named John M. Lilley as president, effective January 2. Lilley has been president at Nevada.
Director of athletics
Dan Bridges was hired as director of athletics at Cal State Los Angeles. Bridges, who takes over for the retiring Carol M. Dunn, has been dean of physical education, health and athletics and acting dean of math and science at San Bernardino Valley College.
Coaches
Women's basketball Robert Morris awarded head coach Sal Buscaglia a contract extension through May 2010. Buscaglia, who guided the Colonials to a 20-10 record and an appearance in the Northeast Conference tournament championship game last year, enters his second season in charge of the program.
Women's basketball assistant Roger Manning was selected as an assistant coach at Post.
Football Georgia Tech awarded head coach Chan Gailey a five-year contract extension through 2010 ... Toledo's Tom Amstutz agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2009 season. Since taking over before the 2001 season, Amstutz's Rockets have compiled a 43-17 record, earned two Mid-American Conference championships, three league division titles and appeared in three Motor City Bowls.
Men's soccer Marc Samonisky retired as head coach at Delaware. Samonisky was promoted to head coach in 1993 after serving as an assistant coach for 19 years. He also was an assistant baseball coach at the school from 1978 to 1992.
Women's soccer Greensboro hired Franco Bari as head coach. For the past five seasons, Bari has been head coach at Elmira ... Wilmington (Delaware) head coach Bob Varell resigned after four seasons in which he led teams to a 45-28-5 mark. The school elevated Dave Bugda, top assistant with the program for the past three seasons, to head coach. Bugda will continue as head women's lacrosse coach.
Softball Robert Bunnell was named as head coach at Chatham. Bunnell was director of athletics at Franklin & Marshall from 1999 to 2003 and also spent two seasons as head softball coach at the school.
Softball assistant Delaware added Adrienne L. Clark as an assistant coach to replace Lisa Myers. Clark was a May 2005 graduate of Hofstra, where she was a two-time first team all-conference selection at pitcher.
Men's and women's volleyball Missy Sturgill was released after three seasons as head coach at Tusculum. Michael Robinson, an assistant coach, will serve as interim head coach.
Conferences
Tom Fielder was named as coordinator of football officials with the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to succeed the retiring Don Page. Fielder has been a football official with the league since 1982. He also has officiated at the high school level and has served as an official timer and video replay assistant with the Big Ten Conference ... The Atlantic Women's College Conference appointed Carrie Michaels as commissioner. Michaels formerly was an assistant to the athletics director at Slippery Rock.

The following were honored as 2005 inductees in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame during a November 30 ceremony in Jacksonville, Florida: George Williams, Saint Augustine's; Bill Cornell, Southern Illinois and Murray State; Victor Lopez, Rice; Erv Hunt, California; Jack Warner, Cornell, Colgate and William Smith; Steve Miller, Cal Poly and Kansas State; Vince Brown, Christopher Newport; Buddy Fowlkes, Georgia Tech; and Charlie Thomas, Texas A&M. Bill Hayward of Oregon, Cleburne Price, Jr. of Texas and Dallas Baptist, and Hoover Wright of Prairie View A&M were inducted posthumously.
