Elon associate head women's basketball coach Ann Lashley died of cancer November 10. She was 40. Lashley, who had been with the program for 12 years, was a 2002-03 AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year award recipient and formerly was an assistant at Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. A four-year letter-winner on the Mississippi State basketball team, Lashley ended her career as the program's all-time leading rebounder and second in career field-goal percentage. She also was a member of England's National Team and competed on the 1985 and 1987 World University Games as well as the 1988 Olympic Team.

Red Sarachek, former basketball coach and athletics administrator at Yeshiva, died November 14. He was 93. Sarachek's tenure at the school began in the 1940s and concluded with the 1968-69 season. He played collegiately at New York University.

Steve Belichick, former head and football coach at Hiram and Navy, died November 19. He was 86. Belichick was a 1941 graduate of Case Western Reserve, where he competed on the football and basketball squads. He went on to serve as head football, basketball and track coach at Hiram from 1946 to 1948 and was an assistant at North Carolina for three seasons. Belichick's 33-year tenure as an assistant football coach and an associate professor of physical education at Navy began in 1956 and ran through 1989.
