Recruiting Service Consultants
1. Involvement of an Athletics Department Staff Member with an Organization that Operates or Endorses a Scouting or Recruiting Service. The committee determined that it is permissible for an institutional athletics department staff member to be affiliated with a third-party organization (for example, coaches association, administrator organization) that operates or endorses a recruiting or scouting service involving prospects, provided no individual institutional athletics department staff members are involved in the operation, endorsement or oversight of the service and access to the service is available to all coaches or institutions on an equal basis regardless of affiliation with the third-party organization. NCAA Proposal No. 03-32/Printed Recruiting Material
2. Application of Proposal No. 2003-32 to the Publication of Media Guides. An institution may not produce a separate media guide that is intended to supplement the one recruiting brochure or media guide that may be produced and provided to prospects. Such supplemental information (for example, historical information, records) may be posted on an institution's Web site and may be printed in black and white, and provided to the media. An institution may produce additional media publications for separate purposes (for example, postseason media guide, spring football practice guide), provided the additional publications are not provided to prospects.
