Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submitting nomination materials for the following vacancies is March 11, 2005.

Women's Lacrosse Rules Committee: The NCAA is soliciting nominations for the newly created Women's Lacrosse Rules Committee (pending adoption of the legislation by the Division I Board of Directors in April 2005). The committee composition is as follows: nine members, including a nonvoting secretary-rules editor. Four members from Division I (including each subdivision on Division I in which a substantial number of schools sponsor the sport), one member from Division II and three members from Division III. Twenty-five percent of the committee must be administrators; 50 percent of the committee must be coaches.

The deadline for submitting nomination materials for the following vacancies is March 4, 2005.

Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports: One September 2005 vacancy. The appointee must have a law background. The appointee may be from any division or subdivision.

Men's and Women's Fencing Committee: One September 2005 vacancy. The appointee must represent men's interests from the Midwest region. The appointee may be a coach or an administrator from any division or subdivision. Eligible institutions: Division I -- Cleveland State University, University of Detroit Mercy, University of Notre Dame, Ohio State University; Division II -- Wayne State University (Michigan); Division III -- Lawrence University.

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I nomination form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials should be submitted via the online nomination process by the conference office.

Women's Bowling Committee: One September 2005 Division I vacancy. Preference will be given to Division I-A and South region nominees.

Division I Field Hockey Committee: One September 2005 vacancy. The appointee must be an administration from the Mideast region. Eligible institutions: Bucknell University; Colgate University; Columbia University-Barnard College; University of Connecticut; Cornell University; Fairfield University; Hofstra University; Lafayette College; Lehigh University; Pennsylvania State University; Quinnipiac University; Robert Morris University; Sacred Heart University; Syracuse University; Yale University.

Women's Gymnastics Committee: Two September 2005 Division I vacancies. Preference will be given to Division I-AA and Division I-AAA nominees. Preference will be given to nominees from the West and Northeast regions. One appointee must be an administrator. Northeast region institutions: Brown University; Cornell University; University of Michigan; University of New Hampshire; University of Pennsylvania; Pennsylvania State University; University of Pittsburgh; University of Rhode Island; Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick; Temple University; Yale University. West region institutions: Boise State University; California State University, Fullerton; California State University, Sacramento; University of California, Berkeley; University of California, Los Angeles; Oregon State University; San Jose State University; University of Washington.

Division I Women's Volleyball Committee: One September 2005 Division I-A vacancy. The appointee must be from the Midwest region. Preference will be given to administrators. Eligible conference: Conference USA.

Baseball Rules Committee: One September 2005 Division I-AAA vacancy. The appointee must be a coach.

Men's and Women's Ice Hockey Rules Committee: One September 2005 Division I vacancy. The appointee must represent women's ice hockey interests. The appointee may be a coach or an administrator.

Division II

Division II individuals may be self-nomination or nominated by peers. A Division II nomination form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials should be submitted via the online nomination process available at web1.ncaa.org/committees/selection.jsp. Divisional access code and password are available upon request.

Division II Women's Basketball Committee: One immediate vacancy. The appointee will replace Sue Reinders of Minnesota State University Mankato, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the North Central region and may be a coach or an administrator. Eligible conferences: North Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Northern Intercollegiate Conference, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Division III

Division III individuals may be self-nomination or nominated by peers. A Division III nomination form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials should be submitted via the online nomination process available at web1.ncaa.org/committees/selection.jsp. Divisional access code and password are available upon request.

Softball Rules Committee: One September 2005 Division III vacancy. The appointee must be a coach.
