Milestones: Bridget Sheehan earned her 500th volleyball coaching win September 16 when Allegheny College defeated Piedmont College in the Emory University Classic. Sheehan, who is in her 20th season with the Gators, entered this season ranked 18th among active Division III volleyball coaches in wins and 34th in win percentage. Her teams have won four North Coast Athle-
tic Conference titles and qualified four times for the Division III Women's Volleyball Championship ... Heidi Jaynes collected her 100th career volleyball victory recently with Carleton College's win over Central College (Iowa) in a contest between nationally ranked teams. Jaynes, who is in her seventh season at the school, earned 88 of those 100 victories during the past five seasons ..

. Jolie Ward picked up her 100th Division III victory in volleyball when Eastern Connecticut State University defeated Babson College October 7. Ward, who in in her third season at Eastern Connecticut State, earned 51 of those victories during a three-year stint at State University of New York at Farmingdale (she also collected 35 wins as a junior college coach at that school during 1998 and 1999, before Farmingdale State became a four-year institution).

Miscellaneous: The Trinity College (Connecticut) football team overtook Williams College both on the field and in the record book when the Bantams broke the record of 23 consecutive New England Division III victories October 1 with a 34-6 victory over the Ephs. Williams held the record for 15 years before Trinity extended its current Division III-leading win streak in the renewal of a rivalry with the Ephs that currently is being featured in a documentary airing at various times through October 29 on College Sports Television. Trinity extended its streak to 25 games with an October 8 victory over Hamilton College ... Clarke College closed out women's tennis competion in the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference by winning a record ninth straight league title. Concordia University (Illinois) won eight straight league crowns beginning in 1982. The NIIC will merge next year with the Lake Michigan Conference.
