Conferences: The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has extended an invitation to Western New Mexico University to join the conference as an active member beginning in the 2006-07 academic year. Western New Mexico, which was a member of the conference from 1967 to 1990, currently is affiliated with the Pacific West Conference. It would replace Fort Hays State University as a RMAC member if it accepts the conference's invitation. Fort Hays State will leave the conference after the 2005-06 academic year to compete in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Western New Mexico would become a member of the RMAC's West Division. The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, could move to the East Division.
