The Division I Women's Basketball Committee went to the eight-site first- and second-round format for the first time in 2005.

In addition to selecting preliminary-round sites for 2007 and 2008, the women's basketball committee confirmed the timelines for selecting preliminary-round sites for 2009 and 2010, and Women's Final Four sites for 2012 through 2015.

For the 2009-10 preliminary rounds, bid specifications and facility-availability questionnaires to Division I institutions and conferences must be received by December 2005.

Finalists will be identified in February 2006, and sites will be selected in June 2006.

Deadlines for prospective hosts of the 2012-15 Women's Final Four begin in August 2006 when bid specifications are sent to all prospective host institutions whose sites meet the minimum seating and hotel requirements.

Finalists will be identified in December 2006 and site selection will be announced in June 2007.
