Conferences: Bucknell University announced plans to rejoin the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association as the league's 14th member in 2005-06. The EIWA currently consists of American University; the U.S. Military Academy; Brown University; Columbia University; Cornell University; East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania; Franklin & Marshall College; Harvard University; Lehigh University; the U.S. Naval Academy; the University of Pennsylvania; Princeton University; and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick. Every Patriot League and Ivy Group institution that fields a wrestling program competes in the EIWA, which conducted its 101st championship this March. Bucknell first joined the EIWA in 1999-2000 and remained part of that affiliation until the Bison program was designated for club-varsity status after the 2001-02 season. Largely through a $5.6 million donation by former Bison wrestler Bill Graham, which also helped fund Bucknell women's athletics programs, the school announced in May 2004 that wrestling would return as Bucknell's 27th varsity sport in 2005-06 ... The Mid-American Conference and Temple University announced that the Owls will become a football member of the MAC effective for the 2007 season. Temple will be an affiliate football member of the MAC in 2005-06. The Owls will have four MAC opponents on their schedule in 2005, with six MAC opponents in 2006 and a full eight-game conference schedule, with eligibility to compete for the MAC championship, beginning in 2007. The Owls will be eligible for one of the conference's two bowl affiliations in 2005-06 and also participate in the MAC television package. In addition to the football membership, the MAC and Temple have agreed to develop scheduling opportunities in men's basketball, women's basketball and Olympic sports. Temple, in its 107th season of football, was previously a member of the Big East Conference from 1991 to 2004.

Miscellaneous: Pennsylvania State University has established a scholarship to honor senior lacrosse captain Michael Jacober, whose parents and brother were killed in a plane crash near State College March 26. They and three family friends, who also were killed, were en route to watch the Nittany Lions play Fairfield University. With former Penn State student-athlete Scott Radecic and his wife Christy taking the organizational lead, more than $50,000 has been pledged to establish the endowment of the Jacober Family Memorial Scholarship. The Radecic's son, Matt, is a midfielder on the lacrosse team. "The response of the Penn State lacrosse family has been very moving and gratifying," said Penn State Athletics Director Tim Curley. "Everyone has rallied around Michael, and the creation of this scholarship will keep the Jacober family and their contributions to the program near."
