Delise O'Meally has accepted responsibilities as director of governance and membership at the NCAA national office.
O'Meally has been a director in the membership services group since April 2001.
In her new role, O'Meally will support the NCAA Executive Committee and ensure that issues from the divisional governance bodies that have Association-wide implications receive Executive Committee review. She also will coordinate the governance and mem bership group's involvement with the objectives in the NCAA strategic plan that require that group's involvement.
O'Meally also will help oversee Association-wide committees, ensuring that their issues are communicated to the division governance bodies. In addition, she will serve in a training and oversight capacity with the staff committee liaison process.
O'Meally was promoted to the director level in 2001 when she was appointed to oversee the interpretations area in membership services and serve as the primary liaison for the Legislative Re-- view/Interpretations Subcommittee.
Before that, she had been involved in the areas of interpretations, education planning and athletics certification during her NCAA tenure. She was promoted to the associate director level in 2000 with additional responsibilities in membership services technology issues.
Before joining the national office staff in November 1997, O'Meally spent five years in athletics administration at Morgan State University, serving initially in sports information, moving to compliance and finally to the position of assistant director of athletics for internal operations. She also was a student-athlete in tennis at Morgan State.
