Conferences: New Jersey City University will become the fourth affiliate member of the City University of New York Baseball Conference, effective with the 2005 season. With this latest addition, the baseball league will include nine members, including five full CUNYAC members as well as affiliated members Cazenovia College, D'Youville College and Keuka College. Also participating will be four full CUNYAC members that currently are fielding teams -- Baruch College, John Jay College, Lehman College and College of Staten Island -- and a fifth full member, City College of New York, that plans to reintroduce the sport for the 2005 season.

Milestones: Augie Schmidt IV of Carthage College won his 500th career baseball game in the first game of an April 6 doubleheader against North Park University. Schmidt becomes the 20th active Division III baseball coach to achieve the 500-victory milestone. Three days later, Carthage defeated Millikin University to record its 1,000th baseball win since the program began in 1910 ... Henry Christowski earned his 300th softball coaching victory at Simpson College and is believed to have reached the milestone faster than any other coach in Division III, notching the win in his 362nd game. Christowski, who recorded the victory in the first game of a doubleheader sweep April 7 against the University of Dubuque, currently has the best winning percentage among active Division III softball coaches with his .832 percentage, and he also holds the distinction of being the first coach in any NCAA division to win 200 games in his first five years as a head coach. John Tschida previously was believed to have recorded 300 wins faster than any other Division III coach, reaching the mark in 366 games through stints at St. Mary's University of Minnesota and College of St. Thomas (Minnesota) ... Cheryl R. Condon won her 200th career softball game at Elms College in the first game of the Blazers' doubleheader sweep of Bay Path College. Condon has recorded all 200 of those victories at Elms.

Miscellaneous: Bard College has developed a new athletics logo featuring its mascot, the Raptor, representing the birds of prey that are indigenous to the Hudson Valley area of New York. The image, which was created by Peter Michos of Resolutionary Marketing Communications in consultation with an advisory committee at Bard, was created as the college committed to charter membership in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, effective in 2005-06.
