The NCAA Nutrition and Performance Project is completing its third year of development. Most of the work on this project has been accomplished through the efforts of the national office intern staff, and thanks to those interns' energy, insight and commitment, the project has evolved into a student-athlete user-friendly resource with accurate, helpful information on the role good nutrition plays in achieving peak performance both on and off the field.
The latest resource to come out of this project is a set of four "bookmarks" addressing balanced diet, hydration, eating on the go, and food over supplements. These bright, bulleted presentations get right to the heart of the matter, with tips on how to tackle each issue to achieve optimum nutritional.
These bookmarks are part of an awareness tool kit that also includes posters, bulletin board kits and magnets, The kits were sent in January to head athletic trainers at every NCAA institution. Response has been positive, and additional materials will be made available as supplies last.
