Georgia State has hired Matt Clark as head men's golf coach.
For the past six years, Clark has worked as an assistant coach at Alabama. In addition to fulfilling coaching and recruiting responsibilities, he also served as director of two home tournaments. During the past two seasons, Clark helped Alabama advance to regional competition in the Division I Men's Golf Championships.
From 1994 to 1997, Clark competed on the men's golf team at Alabama. He earned a bachelor's degree from the school in 1997.
Clark replaces Trey Jones, who accepted coaching responsibilities at Florida State.

Amy Buxbaum was named as athletics director at Chatham to succeed Ronald R. Giles, who will become director of the school's athletics and fitness center. Buxbaum has been senior woman administrator, associate athletics director and head women's basketball coach at Juniata ... Baseball -- Douge Schildgen resigned as head coach at Augsburg ... Mike Sheppard retired as head coach at Seton Hall after 31 seasons. During his tenure, Sheppard, a three-time Big East Conference coach of the year, led the school to 15 conference tournament appearances and the 1987 conference tournament championship. The school selected associate head coach Rob Sheppard, a nine-year assistant with the program, as acting head coach ... Albany State (Georgia) selected Edward Taylor as head coach ... The school appointed Charles Puckett, an assistant coach for the past two seasons, as interim head coach ... Southern Maine head coach Dan Costigan resigned after seven seasons ... Kevin Grimmer, athletics director at Utica/Rome, accepted additional responsibilities as head men's basketball coach to replace Thomas Curle. Grimmer formerly spent 18 seasons coaching the men's basketball squad and returns after stepping down as head coach a year ago ... Baylor chose Scott Drew as head coach to replace Dave Bliss. As head coach at Valparaiso for the past year, Drew led the school to the regular-season championship in the Mid-Continent Conference. In 14 seasons, Lindsay has led the program to a win or share of four of the last six regular-season Mid-American Conference championships and earned coach of the year honors in 1996 and 1998 ... Montana State-Billings chose Melissa Slone as head coach to replace Karyn Ridgeway. Slone has been head coach at College of Charleston for five years.

Hillary London was named as head field hockey coach, head women's lacrosse coach and recreation director at Salve Regina. Last year, London was interim head field hockey and women's lacrosse coach at Vassar.

Equipment manager -- Tom Langan was awarded additional responsibilities as equipment manager at Nichols. Langan will continue as head men's lacrosse coach at the school.
Intramurals assistant -- Ramapo selected Jan Koslowski as assistant director of intramurals.
Marketing/promotions -- Brad Edmondson was chosen as director of marketing at James Madison.

Seth Cole assumed responsibilities as sports information director at St. Michael's, replacing Angela Aja, who became assistant director of alumni and parent relations at the school. Cole has been coordinator of media and public relations for USA Hockey ... Eddie Kenny was tabbed as sports information coordinator at Nova Southeastern. Since September 2002, Kenny has worked as an intern in the school's sports information department ... Chicago State named Ben Greenberg as sports information director to succeed Mark Johnson. Strength and conditioning -- Keith Burns was hired as a strength and conditioning specialist at Seton Hall. Burns has been an assistant strength and conditioning coordinator with MLB's Detroit Tigers.
Strength and conditioning assistant -- Loyola Marymount tabbed Scott Wong as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant. Wong was an assistant with Pepperdine's men's volleyball team during the 2003 season.
Ticket office -- Jim Cordova was named as director of ticket marketing and operations at Long Beach State ... Delaware's Mike Holdren resigned as manager of athletics ticketing to assume duties in the ticket office for MLB's Philadelphia Phillies.
Ticket office assistant -- Illinois named Bethany Foss as assistant ticket manager. Foss has fulfilled similar duties at Illinois State and Iowa in the past two years.
Conferences
Heidi Kravchuk was appointed as assistant commissioner for communications at the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Kravchuk, who replaces Beth Burr, has been an administrative assistant for the football and lacrosse officiating bureaus for the conference since October 1999 ... Conference USA promoted Brenda Weare to deputy commissioner, Russell Anderson to assistant commissioner for media relations, Brad Stricklin to assistant commissioner for financial operations and Kyeshia Brakes to assistant director of sports services. The league also hired Meg Ward as assistant director of media relations and marketing. Weare has been an associate commissioner at the league since 1995 and Anderson has worked as director of media relations since 1998. Stricklin has fulfilled responsibilities as the conference's business manager since 1999 and Brakes has spent the last year as a championships and marketing assistant. Last year, Ward was an graduate intern at DePaul ... Bob Russell was chosen as special assistant to the commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference. For the past five years, Russell has been the conference's coordinator of officials for ice hockey ... Heather Brown was named as media relations assistant at the Ohio Valley Conference. Brown, a 2003 graduate of Bowling Green, has spent the past three months as a sports information intern at Ohio State ... Erico Jones was named as the first intern selected under the Southeastern Conference's newly established minority internship program. Jones is a 2002 graduate of Mississippi State, where he also is currently pursuing a master's degree.
Associations
The American Volleyball Coaches Association appointed Piep van Heuven as director of membership and convention services and Mark McCloskey as manager of membership and convention services. Van Heuven has been assistant athletics director for student services and senior woman administrator at Maine. Last year, McCloskey was head girls' volleyball coach at Fort Lupton (Colorado) High School.
Corrections
In the August 18 edition of The Record, a school at which Irv Cross previously coached was incorrect. Cross was head coach at Cal Baptist from 1997 to 2002 and most recently was head coach at UMKC ... A story in the September 1 NCAA News announcing Southland Conference Associate Commissioner Beth Chapman as a new member of the Division I Management Council incorrectly stated that Chapman was an attorney at a Kansas law firm. Chapman in fact was a compliance assistant at the firm ... The former position of newly appointed Texas A&M-Commerce head volleyball coach Gwen Adams was incorrectly listed in the September 1 issue of The NCAA Record. Adams was head coach at Campbell last season. ... Because of incorrect information received by The NCAA News, the University of Utah infractions case printed in the August 4 issue contained an error. No individuals were released as a result of the NCAA or university investigation.
Reprimands
The NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee reprimanded Army assistant coach Eric Douglas for misconduct displayed before the 2003 Division I Wrestling Championships in Kansas City, Missouri. Douglas was cited for inappropriate behavior at the team's hotel, which resulted in his departure from the hotel property for the remainder of the championships. Because of his actions, the committee reprimanded Douglas and withheld payment for travel to the championships.
The NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee reprimanded University of Maryland, College Park, head soccer coach Sasho Cirovski for misconduct displayed during the semifinal contest of the 2002 Men's College Cup in Dallas. Cirovski used foul and abusive language toward an assistant referee. He was red-carded and ejected from the game for his behavior. Because of his actions, the committee issued a public reprimand and required Cirovski to sit out the first game of the 2003 season.
The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators announced the following as administrators of the year award recipients for 2003: Division I-A -- Cary Groth, director of athletics, Northern Illinois; Division I-AA -- Nance Reed, senior associate athletics director for internal operations, Towson; Division I-AAA -- Jean Lenti Ponsetto, director of athletics, DePaul; Division II -- Mary Gardner, director of athletics, Bloomsburg; Division III -- Joy Solomen, director of athletics, Rowan; Conferences/organizations -- Bridget Belgiovine, associate chief of staff for Division III, NCAA.
Clive Charles, head men's and women's coach at Portland, died of prostate cancer August 26. He was 51. Charles guided the 2002 women's team to the NCAA Division I national championship. Under Charles, Portland's men's and women's squads earned 13 conference championships and made seven semifinal appearances. Charles also coached the U.S. National Men's Team in the 2000 Olympics.
Former coach and athletics administrator Jim Wacker died August 26 at the age of 66. Wacker coached at Texas Lutheran, where he earned NAIA national championships in 1974 and 1975, in addition to leading the program at Texas State (formerly Southwest Texas State) to two NCAA Division II championships in 1981 and 1982. He spent nine seasons at TCU and was head coach at Minnesota from 1992 to 1996. Wacker served as athletics director at Texas State from 1998 to 2001 and was special assistant to the president of the university before retiring in 2002.
Ron Whitson, director of athletics at Transylvania, died August 23. He was 58. Whitson was an assistant men's basketball coach at the school from 1974 to 2001 before accepting responsibilities as athletics director in January. He was a 1967 graduate of the school and he competed on the basketball team.
Paul K. Scott, former student-athlete and athletics administrator at Cornell College, died August 22. He was 97. Scott was an all-Midwest Conference quarterback for the school in 1927, the same year he led the team to the conference championship. Scott went on to serve as athletics director at Cornell from 1941 to 1950. He also was head wrestling, track, golf and cross country coach at the school. In 1947, he guided his wrestling squad to the NCAA and NAAU national championships.
Former Wilmington coach, administrator and faculty member Fred Raizk died August 23 at the age of 89. Raizk coached football, basketball, baseball, track, soccer and golf at the school. In addition, he served as athletics director and dean of men from 1946 to 1990.
Patrick William Feeney, a men's basketball student-athlete at New Mexico, died August 28. Feeney, 20, was a sophomore transfer from Portland State, where he had competed for one season.
Brian Ottney, former football student-athlete at Michigan State, died September 1. He was 23. Ottney, a three-year letter-winner and a captain on last year's squad at Michigan State, graduated with a bachelor's degree in building construction management.
