Kentucky Wesleyan College's second-place finish in the 2003 Division II Men's Basketball Championship has been vacated because of the use of an ineligible student-athlete.

Kentucky Wesleyan made the NCAA enforcement staff aware of the infraction after an internal investigation, and the institution subsequently self-reported the violation to the NCAA.

The Association also will withhold 90 percent of the revenue the institution earned for its second-place finish.

The record of the team's performance will be deleted, and the team's trophy will be returned to the Association as outlined in Bylaw 31.2.2.4 in the Division II Manual.

The distribution of the funds gained by the second-place finish was to be distributed to the Great Lakes Valley Conference over a period of six years as part of the Division II Enhancement Fund.

The amount to be withheld from the conference distribution is about $6,000 per year. The loss in revenue was levied pursuant to Bylaw 31.2.2.5.

In accordance with NCAA procedures, the institution may appeal the ruling to the full NCAA Division II Committee on Infractions within 30 days of official notification to the institution of the action.
