The Division I Men's Basketball Committee has announced the timetable for determination of preliminary-round sites for the 2007 and 2008 championships. The decision on sites will take place during the committee's summer 2004 meeting (June 29-July 3, 2004).
The committee finalized the new timetable during its meeting earlier this month.
Preliminary-round sites are set through the 2006 championship, but the process for selecting sites beyond that will be as follows:
This December, specification agreements and facility-availability questionnaires will be distributed to Division I institutions and conferences. The deadline for prospective hosts to return those forms will be January 12, 2004.
The Division I Men's Basketball Committee's site-selection subcommittee will convene via teleconference in February to identify finalists. National office staff will e-mail forms and contracts shortly afterward to the finalists. The deadline for finalists to return the form will be April 23, 2004.
The committee's site-selection subcommittee will convene via teleconference in May to review finalists' information and recommend actual sites.
During its June 29-July 3, 2004, meeting, the Division I Men's Basketball Committee will forward site recommendations to the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet. Notification will be sent to recommended sites.
