Acting for the Division I Management Council, the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations issued the following interpretations:
Recruiting/Nonathletics Advertisement
1. Advertisement of Institution's Educational Programs in a High School or Two-Year College. It is not permissible for an institution to place any institutional advertisement (athletics or nonathletics) in a high-school or two-year college athletics facility during the conduct of an athletics event. Awards and Benefits/Preseason Meals
2. Provision of Cash Equivalent for Additional Preseason Meal. It is not permissible for an institution to provide cash (as opposed to an actual meal) to a student-athlete to cover the value of the additional preseason meal permitted per Bylaw 16.5.2-(b). The subcommittee noted that this provision applies only to the additional meal permitted per Bylaw 16.5.2-(b). [References: NCAA Proposal No. 2002-51 and Bylaw 16.5.2 (preseason practice expenses).]
