DIVISION I
Dates and site: The championships will be March 14-15 at Arkansas.
Field: A total of 270 athletes will compete in the championships. Athletes qualify by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.
Selection date: The spots remaining in the field after the automatic qualifiers are entered will be filled from the descending-order list of provisional qualifiers March 10.
2002 team champion: LSU.
Top team contenders: Florida, LSU, North Carolina, Southern California, South Carolina, UCLA.
Top individual contenders: Aleen Bailey, South Carolina; Rachelle Boone, Indiana; Lauren Fleshman, Stanford; Laura Gerraughty, North Carolina; Muna Lee, LSU; Roisin McGettigan, Providence; Kate O'Neill, Yale; Ineta Radevica, Nebraska.
DIVISION II
Dates and site: The championships will be March 14-15 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.
Field: A total of 154 athletes will compete in the championships. Athletes qualify by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.
Selection date: The spots remaining in the field after the automatic qualifiers are entered will be filled from the descending-order list of provisional qualifiers March 4.
2002 team champion: North Dakota State.
Top team contenders: Abilene Christian, Adams State, Ashland, Emporia State, North Dakota State, St. Augustine's.
Top individual contenders: Adriane Blewitt, Ashland; Maresa Cadienhead, Abilene Christian; Carlene Cummings, St. Augustine's; Crystal Cummins, North Dakota State; Jackie Jeschelnig, Ashland; Chanda Powell, North Carolina Central; Libia Rodriguez, St. Augustine's; Leva Zunda, Lewis.
DIVISION III
Dates and site: The championships will be March 14-15 at DePauw.
Field: A total of 200 athletes will compete in the championships. Athletes qualify by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.
Selection date: The spots remaining in the field after the automatic qualifiers are entered will be filled from the descending-order list of provisional qualifiers March 10.
2002 team champion: Wheaton (Massachusetts).
Top team contenders: Carthage, Wartburg, Wheaton (Massachusetts), Williams, Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Top individual contenders: Paulette Baldwin, Lehman; Missy Buttry, Wartburg; Maria Ferguson, Frostburg State; Deena Heins, Wisconsin-Oshkosh; Kammie Holt, Washington (Missouri); Amber James, Wheaton (Massachusetts); Mariko Tansey Holbrook, Brandeis; Liz Woodworth, Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Wheaton (Massachusetts) will be attempting to win its fifth straight Division III title. If the Lyons accomplish that feat, they will tie LSU for the second-longest winning streak in NCAA women's indoor track and field history. Abilene Christian compiled eight consecutive Division II championships from 1993 to 2000.
