Dates and sites: The championships will be March 5-8 at Dartmouth Skiway and Silver Fox Trails in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Field: A total of 148 student-athletes (74 men, 74 women) will compete in eight gender-separate races -- two men's cross country, two women's cross country, two men's downhill and two women's downhill. The points in all races are added to determine one team champion.
Selection date: February 25.
2002 team champion: Denver.
Top team contenders: Denver, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Vermont.
Skiers to watch: Christoper Berg, Denver; Brad Hogan, Colorado; Liina Johnson, Utah; Chrissy May, Dartmouth; Jimmy Cochran, Vermont; Anna McLoon, Harvard; Jenny Wissting, New Mexico; Roger Brown, Dartmouth.
This is the first year that Dartmouth has hosted since 1978. The host's Roger Brown is the only defending individual championship this season.
