Division I
Dates and sites: Regionals will be conducted at campus sites May 9-11. Quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be May 15-24 at Linder Stadium at the Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Florida. Florida will host.
Field: The team championships will include 64 teams. Individual championships shall consist of 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams.
2002 team champion: Stanford.
2002 individual champions: Singles -- Bea Bielik, Wake Forest; Doubles -- Laura Kalvaria and Gabriela Lastra, Stanford.
Top team contenders: Stanford, Southern California, Florida, California; Duke.
Top individual contenders: Amber Liu, Stanford; Jewel Peterson, Southern California; Lindsay Dawaf, Florida; Raquel Kops-Jones, California, Kelly McCain, Duke.
Division II
Dates and sites: Regionals will be held at campus sites May 2-4. Quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be May 8-11 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Central Florida Sports Commission and the Sunshine State Conference will host.
Field: The team championship includes 64 teams. Single-elimination tournaments will be played at 16 regional sites (three or four teams at each site) and the finals site (16-team bracket) to determine the national champion.
2002 champion: Brigham Young-Hawaii.
Top team contenders: Brigham Young-Hawaii, Lynn, Barry, Ouachita Baptist,West Florida.
Players to watch: Adrienn Hegedus, Brigham Young-Hawaii; Marie Barbier, Lynn; Victoria Courmes, Barry; Brenda Magnetti, Ouachita Baptist; Nicole Plikat, West Florida.
Division III
Dates and sites: Rounds of 32 and 16 will be conducted at campus sites May 3-4. Quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be May 14-19 at Verdieck Courts in Redlands, California. Redlands will host.
Field: The team championship will consist of 26 teams. Individual championships will consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Teams will play a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion.
2002 team champion: Williams.
2002 individual champions: Singles -- Elena Blanina, Methodist; Doubles -- Mary Ellen Gordon and Anusha Natarajan, Emory.
Top team contenders: Emory, Trinity (Texas), Amherst, Gustavus Adolphus, Washington & Lee.
Top individual contenders: Mary Ellen Gordon, Emory; Lindsay Smith, Amherst; Kristin Raverta, Trinity (Texas); Kris Rosborough, Gustavus Adolphus; Lindsay Hagerman, Washington & Lee.
Southern California achieved a No. 1 ranking this season for the first time since 1986.
