Division I
Dates and sites: The regionals will be May 30-June 1 at 16 on-campus and predetermined sites. Super Regionals will be June 6-9 at eight on- and off-campus sites. The College World Series will be June 13-23 at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.
Field: Sixty-four teams, selected by the 10-member Division I Baseball Committee. Thirty conferences have been granted automatic qualification.
Selection date: All teams and pairings will be announced live May 26 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN2.
2002 champion: Texas.
Top team contenders: Clemson, Texas, Alabama, Stanford, Rice, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Wichita State, South Carolina.
Players to watch: Rickie Weeks, Southern; Michael Aubrey, Tulane; Scott Dierks, Santa Clara; Carlos Quentin, Stanford; Wade Townsend, Rice; Jason Windsor, Cal State Fullerton.
Division II
Dates and sites: Regionals will be May 15-17 at eight on-campus sites. The finals will be May 24-31 at Paterson Field in Montgomery, Alabama.
Field: Thirty-two teams, all selected at large by the eight-member Division II Baseball Committee.
Selection date: May 11.
2002 champion: Columbus State.
Top team contenders: Cal State Chico, Delta State, North Florida, Kennesaw State, Central Missouri State, Central Oklahoma, Columbus State, Florida Southern.
Players to watch: Brandon DeJaynes, Quincy; Grant Reynolds, Kennesaw State; Justin Walker, Augusta State; Matt Weagle, Franklin Pierce; Mike Aviles, Concordia (New York); Brian Foy, Wayne State (Nebraska); Ashley Farr, South Carolina-Aiken; Greg Annino, C.W. Post.
Division III
Dates and sites: Regionals will be May 15-18 at eight on-campus sites. The finals will be May 23-27 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin. Wisconsin-Oshkosh will host.
Field: Forty-two teams, selected by the eight-member Division III Baseball Committee. Thirty-one conferences have been granted automatic qualification.
Selection date: May 11.
2002 champion: Eastern Connecticut State.
Top team contenders: Fort Hays State, Concordia (New York), Marietta, Central Missouri State, St. Thomas (Minnesota), Chapman, Montclair State, Salisbury, Cortland State, Southern Maine, Eastern Connecticut State, Southern Colorado.
Players to watch: Vince Mancuso, Wisconsin-Oshkosh; Mark Roth, Delaware Valley; Nick Johnson, Ripon; Chad Cambra, Bridgewater State; Mike Shrimpton, Marietta; Chad Cosby, Worcester State; Mike Hubbs, Cortland State; Billye Hollister, Frostburg State.
There hasn't been a repeat winner in Division III since Rowan won back-to-back titles in 1978 and 1979.
