The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced Academic All-America teams in football and women's volleyball for 2003.

In football, Ohio State University quarterback Craig Krenzel, an Academic All-America selection for the second straight year, was named the Team Member of the Year for the university division. The molecular genetics major is ranked among Ohio State's career leaders in total offense and passing yardage. He captained the Buckeyes this year and led them to a 10-2 regular-season record and a berth in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Emporia State University running back Tyler Paul earned Academic All-America of the Year honors for the college division. Also a two-time first-team Academic All-American, Paul is the leading rusher in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and 11th nationally at 131.1 yards per game.

In women's volleyball, American University outside hitter Karla Kucerkova was selected as the Academic All-American of the Year in the university division for the second straight year. Kucerkova leads the Eagles and the Patriot League in kills (5.11 per game). She also was named Patriot League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2002.

Capital University outside hitter Nici Workman was named the Academic All-American of the Year for the college division. She is the Crusaders' all-time record holder for career service aces (195) and she ranks second in school history in matches played (90).

The Academic All-America Teams program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by the 2,000-member CoSIDA.

Nominees must be varsity starters or key reserves, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.200 (4.000 scale), have reached sophomore athletics and academic standing at his or her current institution and be nominated by his or her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II and III and the NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
