The Division I Board of Directors at its April 25 meeting adopted a four-pronged resolution to ensure enhanced performance in the classroom for Division I student-athletes.
The Board also adopted several amateurism proposals at its meeting, although it tabled one part of the amateurism package to give Division I members more time to discuss the ramifications of restrictions on pre-enrolled student-athletes.
The NCAA Executive Committee has selected the Atlanta firm of Baker-Parker and Associates to assist the NCAA selection committee in identifying a replacement for the NCAA President Cedric W. Dempsey.
Baker-Parker will help the NCAA Executive Committee, guided by its search committee, select a new president by November 1.
Applications for the Divisions I, II and III Conference Youth Education through Sports (YES) Boys' and Girls' Clinic Program have been mailed for the 2002-03 season. This program is extended to Divisions I, II and III conferences; the application deadline is May 31.
Applications also are being accepted for a pilot YES program for Division II conferences. The 2002-03 Division II Conference YES Clinic program may be held at any men's, women's or combined conference championship. The deadline for this program also is May 31.
