That addition, based on campus interest and a successful intramural program, will bring the Ospreys to 17 varsity sports overall ... New Jersey City University has announced it will add men's indoor and outdoor track and field, effective with the 2002-03 season. The men's program will operate in conjunction with the existing women's program under the guidance of current head coach Mark Griffin. A men's track program had existed previously at the school in the early 1980s, when the institution was known as Jersey City State.

Facilities: Formal dedication of the James W. Garrett Sports Complex at Susquehanna University took place last month as part of the university's alumni weekend activities. The sports complex honors Garrett, the school's most successful head football coach, who compiled a 39-11-1 record as head coach of the Crusaders from 1960 to 1965. The complex includes a 51,000 square-foot fieldhouse with four multisport courts and an indoor six-lane 200-meter track, concessions stand, lounge area, sports medicine and training facilities and an observation deck ... College Misericordia recently broke ground for the Robert S. Anderson Athletic Complex, a 23-acre on-campus facility. The complex will include a six-lane synthetic track with an eight-lane straightaway and also the Mangelsdorf Field for lacrosse, soccer and field hockey. The track will include areas for steeplechase, long jump, triple jump and pole vault, while a separate natural grass area will be constructed for events in the hammer, javelin and shot put.
