Winning eight of 20 event titles, Kenyon roared to its 19th Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships team title March 16 in Oxford, Ohio.

Despite a good showing by defending champion Denison, the Big Red could not overcome the ever-widening Ladies' lead. Kenyon posted 577 points to Denison's 418. Emory, Williams and Johns Hopkins rounded out the top five.

Kenyon's Elizabeth Galloway and Agnese Ozolina won individual and relay titles for the Ladies. Galloway's effort in the 100-yard backstroke earned her a championship record. But she was unable to repeat as champion in the 50-yard freestyle. That title went to Carleton's Marie Marsman, who also swam away with the 100- and 200-yard freestyle championships.

The three-day meet saw several breakout performances, including Franklin & Marshall's Krystle Satrum (200-yard backstroke), Claremont- Mudd-Scripps' Suzanne Nicoletti (200-yard breaststroke) and Grove City's Peggy Whitbeck (200-yard butterfly), all of whom were newcomers to the podium. Veteran Tamara Carty of Denison defended her titles in the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyles, while Williams' Rachel Gealy repeated as the three-meter diving champion.

Kenyon grabbed four of five relay titles and kept a safe distance ahead of Denison, the team that upset them in 2001 and ended their NCAA-record 18 consecutive championships. The Ladies' team championship was their first under head coach Peter Casares. An assistant coach during the 2001 season, Casares took over the program in 2002 for Jim Steen, who is on sabbatical.

Marsman earned honors as swimmer of the meet and Emory's Jon Howell was named coach of the meet. Springfield's Lindsay Moore (one-meter diving) and her coach Peter Avdoulos were honored as diver and diving coach of the meet.
