Milestones: Bentley College women's basketball coach Barbara Stevens became the seventh women's college basketball coach to win 600 games when Bentley defeated the College of Saint Rose, 83-42, January 26. After the victory, Stevens' career record was 600-157. She joined Jody Conradt of the University of Texas at Austin, and Pat Summitt of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as the only women's basketball coaches to win 600 games. The three-time Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II Coach of the Year stood 443-66 in 16 years at Bentley. She previously coached at Clark University and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst ... Pace University women's basketball coach Carrie Seymour earned her 200th career victory January 26 with an 81-70 win over Merrimack College. After the victory, Seymour's career record stood at 200-87 ... Griff Mills, men's basketball coach at Tusculum College, coached his 300th career game February 2 ... Wheeling Jesuit University men's basketball coach Jay DeFruscio won his 200th career game when his Cardinals defeated Ohio State University, Newark, 95-66. DeFruscio, who also serves as Wheeling Jesuit's athletics director, has coached the team for 14 years ... Margaret "Gie" Parsons won her 300th game January 12 when her Clarion University of Pennsylvania team defeated East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, 64-50 ... Indiana University of Pennsylvania coach Gary Edwards picked up his 300th career victory February 6 when his Indians defeated Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, 63-56. After the victory, Edwards' all-time coaching record stood at 300-214, including a mark of 117-46 in six seasons at Indiana.
Miscellaneous: Senior center Wanda Maynard-Morris grabbed her 1,000th career rebound January 26, making her only the second Pace player ever to grab 1,000 rebounds and score 1,500 points in a career ... Basketball fans in California got a rare treat recently when the No. 1 men's and women's basketball teams in Division II played on the same night on the same court twice in a week. On January 23, California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, ranked No. 1 in Division II women's basketball, defeated California State University, San Bernardino, 86-44, in a game at Pomona. Immediately after that game, Cal State San Bernardino -- ranked No. 1 among Division II men -- defeated Cal Poly Pomona, 66-63. On January 26, the teams met again in San Bernardino. In the second matchup, Cal Poly Pomona's women won, 87-76, while the Cal State San Bernardino men prevailed, 67-56.
