Christian Brothers, led by the tournament's most outstanding offensive player, Missy Gregg, won the Division II Women's Soccer Championship with a 2-1 victory over Nebraska-Omaha December 8 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Gregg scored the first goal just 2:36 into the game, then assisted Anna Rask at 65:08 to win the championship. After finishing runner-up last year after Gregg suffered a knee injury during the final game, Christian Brothers claimed its first women's soccer title and ended its season with a 25-1 record. Nebraska-Omaha completed a 22-1 slate.

"Our goal this year was to get back to the final, and it feels great to be able to go one step further and win it this year," said Christian Brothers head coach Gareth O'Sullivan.

Gregg, who led the nation with 62 goals, scored an early goal off an indirect kick from Margaret Saurin. Gregg is the all-time leading goal scorer in NCAA history for all divisions, men and women, with 180 goals during two seasons with Dayton and two with Christian Brothers.

Nebraska-Omaha tied the game midway through the first half when Stephanie Kruse turned on a loose ball inside the box and fired a quick shot past Christian Brothers goalkeeper Jennifer Simon.

"It was a fun game -- back and forth -- with the two best teams in the country battling it out for a national championship," said Nebraska-Omaha head coach Don Klosterman.

In addition to Gregg being recognized as the tournament's most outstanding offensive player, Christian Brothers' defender Kanae Haneishi was selected as the most outstanding defensive player. They were joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Saurin, Sofia Rask, Tina Froberg, and Arna Heimlund. Nebraska-Omaha placed Ashley Grace, Jessica Dotson, Stephanie Kirby, Stephanie Kruse and Meghan Pile. Others included Meghan Welcome and Marrta Makila of Franklin Pierce and Mandy Allen of Metro State.
