Division II spring sports festival: Division II championships administrators are accepting bids to host the inaugural Division II spring sports festival in 2004.
The 2004 Division II spring sports festival will include men's and women's golf, women's lacrosse, softball, and men's and women's tennis. The festival will host more than 600 student-athletes during a 10-day period. This is a unique event, and communities interested in hosting the event will have the opportunity to help pioneer the shape of future NCAA championships.
In addition to the six NCAA championship events, the Division II sports festival will feature opening ceremonies, social opportunities for student-athletes, community events, a salute dinner and a fan festival.
The goal is to both enhance the student-athlete experience and to create identity and exposure for the Division II sports festival both regionally and nationally. A successful bid will come from the community that can both fully recognize and embrace this opportunity.
Interested parties should submit bid materials to Sharon K. Cessna, NCAA associate director of championships, at the national office no later than June 1, 2002.
