National qualifying will be at Oklahoma April 4, and the national championships will follow April 5-6.Field:
A national qualifier will consist of the top nine teams; conference champions from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and Big Ten Conference; the top 12 all-around competitors who are not members of a selected team; and 12 individuals per event. The top three all-around competitors not on a team selected and three individual event competitors will advance to the national championship.Selection date:

Oklahoma, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota.Top individual contenders:
Daniel Furney, Oklahoma; Kevin Donahue, Penn State; Graham Ackerman, California; Guillermo Alvarez, Minnesota; Edward Umphrey, Michigan.Defending champion Ohio State was the last team to post four individual champions at nationals. The Buckeyes did it twice (1996 and 1997). Illinois accomplished it three times (1940, 1941 and 1958). Penn State (1954 and 1959) and Michigan (1963) hold the record with six titlists in one championship.
