The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), partnering with Adidas, recently named the 2001 NSCAA/Adidas College Scholar all-America teams.
Four men's players earned repeat honors this year: defenders Scott Blount of Furman University and Bryn Ritchie of the University of Washington; Northeastern University midfielder Anders Hoeyem; and goalkeeper Ryan Wittstruck from the University of Puget Sound.
Five women's players also earned repeat recognition: California Polytechnic State University defender Carolyn Schifftner, Furman defender Kaye Brownlee, goalkeeper Andrea Pawliczek from Emory University, goalkeeper Meagan Thunell of Weber State University, Furman forward Melissa Turner and Minnesota-Duluth forward Jen Warrick.
Nominees for the team must be at least a junior, start at least half of their team's games and/or make a significant contribution, and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.300 (4.000 scale).
Following are the 2001 NSCAA all-America teams:
