NACDA announces 12 postgraduate awardees

The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics has selected 12 Divisions I, II and III winners of the Sears Directors' Cup Postgraduate Scholarship Awards.

Presented by NACDA and Sears, Roebuck and Co., the program honors 12 winners from NCAA Divisions I, II and III and four from the NAIA.

The winners, chosen from 185 nominees, will each receive a $5,000 grant to be used toward postgraduate studies. Four additional $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to a student at the institutions that win the Sears Directors' Cup, the national all-sports competition.

The winners will receive their awards June 18 during the NACDA convention.

Sears Directors' Cup postgraduate scholarships are earmarked for students who have served in an athletics support capacity at four-year institutions. This includes students from academic support, band members, equipment room managers, facility managers, sports information assistants, student coaches and athletic trainers. Nominees must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.000 or higher (4.000 scale), demonstrate involvement on the collegiate or community level and maintain full-time status as a senior.

The 12 NCAA winners are Katherine Brown, Northwestern University cheerleader; Melissa DiPerri, Towson University cheerleader; Joshua Mahan, University of Kentucky sports information assistant; Monica Quinn, University of Missouri, Columbia, academic support person; Laura Dyer, Delta State University cheerleader; Burt Iwata, University of Northern Colorado assistant coach; Brandon Kieper, Truman State University sports information assistant; Michael Passafiume, Lynn University team manager; Kemper Beasley III, Hamp-
den-Sydney College sports information assistant; Robyn Bowers, Denison University sports information assistant and assistant coach; Christopher Goggin, Williams College sports information assistant; and Terri Travers, Juniata College assistant coach.
