Division I
Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at nine sites will be November 16. The championships will be November 25 at Indiana State.
Field: A total of 255 competitors will qualify or be selected.
Selection date: Thirteen teams and two individuals will be selected at large November 18.
2001 team champion: Colorado.
2001 individual champion: Boaz Cheboiywo (Eastern Michigan).
Top team contenders: Arkansas, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Northern Arizona, Oregon, Stanford, Villanova.
Top individual contenders: Henrik Ahnstrom (Northern Arizona); Ryan Andrus (Oregon); Cheboiywo; Alistair Cragg (Arkansas); Ryan Hall (Stanford); Kip Kangogo (Brigham Young); Mike Smith (Georgetown); Jorge Torres (Colorado).
Division II
Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at eight sites will be November 9 or 10. The championships will be November 23 at Ashland.
Field: A total of 184 runners will compete.
Selection date: The 24 teams of seven individuals each and 16 additional individuals will be determined through regional competition.
2001 team champion: Western State.
2001 individual champion: Michael Aish (Western State).
Top team contenders: Abilene Christian, Adams State, UC Davis, Cal State Chico, Harding, Massachusetts-Lowell, South Dakota State, Western State.
Top individual contenders: Josh Eberly (Western State); Matt Faulkner (Cal State Chico); John Kemboi (Abilene Christian); Steve Laurie (UC Davis); Brad Lowery (South Dakota State); Celedonio Rodriguez (Adams State); Jacob Rotich (Harding); Alfred Rugema (Abilene Christian).
Division III
Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at eight sites will be November 16. The championships will be November 23 at St. Olaf.
Field: A total of 215 runners will compete.
Selection date: The 24 teams of seven individuals and 47 additional individuals will be determined through regional competition.
2001 team champion: Wisconsin-La Crosse.
2001 individual champion: J.B. Haglund (Haverford).
Top team contenders: Calvin, Keene State, College of New Jersey, North Central, Wartburg, Willamette, Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Top individual contenders: David Cisewski (Wisconsin-Oshkosh); Hendik Kok (Calvin); Tyson Keith (Wartburg); Scott McCaffery (College of New Jersey); Mark Miller (Keene State); Pat Rizzo (North Central); Dan Sutton (Wisconsin-La Crosse); Aaron Young (Willamette).
