Division I
Dates and sites: First- and second-round games will be played November 16-17 at campus sites. The semifinals and finals will be November 22 and 24 at Louisville.
Field: 16 teams.
Selection date: November 12.
2001 champion: Michigan.
Top team contenders: Maryland, Michigan, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, Michigan State.
Players to watch: Colleen Barbieri (Maryland); Kristi Gannon (Michigan); Tiffany Snow (Old Dominion); Kelly Doton (Wake Forest); Annebet Beerman (Michigan State).
Division II
Dates and sites: The semifinals and final will be played November 8 and 10 on the campus of one of the competing institutions.
Field: Four teams, two from each of the North and South regions.
Selection date: November 3.
2001 champion: Bentley.
Top team contenders: Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Bentley, St. Michael's, Shippensburg, Bryant.
Players to watch: Shanna Fritz (Bloomsburg); Kellie Kulina (Lock Haven); Carli Bordner (Shippensburg); Katie Whiteley (St. Michael's); Jenn Walker (Bentley).
Division III
Dates and sites: Two first-round games will be played November 13 on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Second- and third-round games will be November 16-17 on the campus of one of the competing institutions. The semifinals and final will be November 23-24 at Springfield.
Field: 18 teams.
Selection date: November 10.
2001 champion: Cortland State.
Top team contenders: Rowan, College of New Jersey, Cortland State, Salisbury, Skidmore.
Players to watch: Becky Peterson (Rowan); Abbie Smith (College of New Jersey); Julie Gentner (Cortland State); Melissa Taylor (Salisbury); Taryn Howard (Skidmore).
