Conferences:
The North Central Conference has announced that it is willing to consider adding a 10th member institution sometime after the withdrawal of Morningside College at the conclusion of the 2001-02 academic year. "There certainly is no guarantee that we will add another institution to fill the vacancy made by the departure of Morningside," said Charles Kupchella, president of the University of North Dakota and chair of the North Central Conference Council of Presidents. "We would like to see if there are any institutions interested in applying for admission whose academic and athletics profiles match those of our current members. We are willing to consider any applications that are submitted." Beginning with the 2002-03 academic year, the nine member institutions of the North Central Conference will be Augustana College (South Dakota); Minnesota State University-Mankato; the University of Nebraska, Omaha; North Dakota; North Dakota State University; the University of Northern Colorado; St. Cloud State University; the University of South Dakota; and South Dakota State University. Institutions interested in applying should contact North Central Commissioner Mike Marcil (2400 North Louise Avenue, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57107).-- Compiled by David Pickle
