Milestone: Lu Kormeluk, head women's volleyball coach at Shepherd College, achieved his 150th career victory October 20 with a 32-30, 30-25, 30-13 win over Davis and Elkins College. As of October 20, Kormeluk's record in six years at Shepherd stood at 150-56.
Miscellaneous: Bentley College wide receiver Dallas Mall set a Division II record for most touchdown receptions in a season by a freshman with a pair of TD catches October 13 against Pace University. The scores gave Mall 14 touchdown receptions for the year, surpassing the previous Division II standard of 13, set by Sean Scott of Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 1997. Mall accomplished the feat in just seven games. He tied Scott's record on a 19-yarder with 6:03 left in the second quarter and broke it on a 46-yard catch with 37 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Through October 13, he had 37 catches for 755 yards and had scored on 40 percent of his catches. The all-divisions record for touchdown catches by a freshman is 19 by Randy Moss of Marshall University in 1996 ... Kristy Ritchie of Ashland University scored the 100th goal of her soccer career October 19 in a 7-1 victory over Northern Michigan University. In that match, Ritchie scored four goals and added an assist, making her the 15th woman in NCAA history (all divisions) to score 100 goals. She is the third Division II player to reach the milestone. Through October 19, the senior three-time all-America had 26 goals and 11 assists for the season.
