The 40 members of the third annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team were announced recently by the organization.
The winners were chosen from 88 nominees.
"All of the nominees, and particularly the 40 players selected, represent the talent and dedication of the student-athletes at Division I-AA institutions," said Dave Roach, chair of the selection committee and athletics director at Brown University.
Nominees are required to have a minimum grade-point average of 3.200 (4.000 scale) in undergraduate study and be a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. In addition, they must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing, and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at their current institution.
Finally, nominees must participate in at least 50 percent of their team's games at their designated position.
Now in its eighth year, the Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association's mission is to enhance Division I-AA football. The group is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
