Field: A maximum of 48 competitors will be selected to the championships. The top eight or fewer teams in each team event and 40 or fewer individuals in each individual event qualify.

2000 champion: Alaska Fairbanks.

Contending teams: Alaska Fairbanks, Nebraska, Kentucky, Xavier, West Virginia.

Top individual contenders: Defending smallbore champion Nicole Allaire from Nebraska.

Alaska Fairbanks is looking for its third consecutive team title and fourth overall. West Virginia, which last won in 1998, leads with 13 titles.
