Division I

Dates and sites: Preliminary-round games will be played at campus sites. The first/second rounds will be November 16 and 18, third-round games will be November 23, 24 or 25 and the quarterfinals will be November 30 or December 1 or 2. The semifinals and final will be December 7 and 9 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas. Southern Methodist University will host the Women's College Cup.

Field: Sixty-four teams, including automatic berths from 28 conference. The remaining teams are selected at large.

Selection date: November 12, 3 p.m. EST.

2000 champion: North Carolina.

Top team contenders: North Carolina, UCLA, Notre Dame, Portland, Nebraska.

Players to watch: Danielle Borgman (North Carolina), Anne Makinen (Notre Dame), Nandi Pryce (UCLA).

Division II

Dates and sites: All tournament games will be played at campus sites. First-round games will be November 7, second-round games will be November 10 or 11 and quarterfinals will be November 17 or 18. The semifinals and final will be November 30 - December 2.

Field: Twenty-four teams, with three teams chosen from each of the eight geographical regions.

Selection date: November 4.

2000 champion: UC San Diego.

Top team contenders: Northern Kentucky, Franklin Pierce, Regis (Colorado), Christian Brothers, UC San Diego.

Players to watch: Patricia Keeldar (Franklin Pierce), Missy Gregg (Christian Brothers), Tricia Ruark (Northern Kentucky).

Division III

Dates and sites: All tournament games will be played at campus sites. First-round games will be played October 31, regionals will be November 3-4 and quarterfinals will be November 10 or 11. The finals will be played November 17-18.

Field: Forty-five teams selected at large.

Selection date: October 28.

2000 champion: College of New Jersey.

Top team contenders: College of New Jersey, Trinity (Texas), Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Willamette, Ohio Wesleyan.

Players to watch: Ellen Abramson [Trinity(Texas)], Denise Buckley (College of New Jersey), Mickey Jacob (University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point).

North Carolina's Anson Dorrance, UC San Diego's Joe Russo and College of New Jersey's Brian McManus, all coaches of national title teams last year, entered this season ranked first, second and third, respectively, in the list of all-time winningest coaches by percentage. Dorrance had a winning percentage of .947 entering his 23rd season at North Carolina. Russo's winning percentage was .888, while McManus sported an .872 mark.
