The NCAA News

When: January 6-8, 2001. Related events begin January 4 and conclude January 11.

Where: Orlando, Florida. The headquarters hotels are the Swan and Dolphin. This is the first NCAA Convention to be conducted in Orlando.

Projected attendance: Based on advance hotel reservations, it appears that attendance for the 2001 Convention will be about 1,692, an increase from last year's total of 1,597.

Number of proposals: Divisions II and III delegates will act on 80 proposals listed in the Official Notice (46 in Division II and 34 in Division III). The Divisions I, II and III Management Councils and presidential governing bodies also will meet in conjunction with the Convention.

  • NCAA Delegates Reception: 6:30-8 p.m., Swan Ballroom, Dolphin.

    Sunday, January 7

  • Division II CEO Luncheon: Noon-1:30 p.m., NH C, Dolphin.

  • Division III Issues Forum: 1:30-4 p.m., NH D,E, Dolphin.

  • Division II Issues Forum: 2-4 p.m., NH A,B, Dolphin.

  • Opening Business Session: 4:30-6 p.m., SH I,II,III, Dolphin.

  • NCAA Honors Dinner: 7:30-9:30 p.m., Swan Ballroom, Dolphin.

     

    Monday, January 8

  • Division I Issues Forum: 8 a.m.-noon, SH I,II, Dolphin.

  • Division II Business Session: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., NH A,B, Dolphin.

  • Division III Business Session: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., NH D,E, Dolphin.

     

    Tuesday, January 9

  • NCAA Executive Committee: 9 a.m.-noon, NH A-2, 3, Dolphin.
