FINANCES

Executive Committee develops allocation process

The NCAA Executive Committee has developed a process for allocating dollars from the new CBS television contract that establishes guidelines and parameters for NCAA committees to follow.

The process calls for the Executive Committee's Budget Subcommittee to develop budget parameters and assumptions based on the new contract revenues. Each division then would be provided projected revenues based on the increases in the television contract and would be expected to provide a three-year plan for the allocation of the contract dollars based on each division's strategic plan. Those plans would be presented to the Executive Committee for consideration in January 2001.

DIVERSITY

Application deadline near for Division II grant program

Division II members interested in applying for the Division II Strategic Alliance Matching Grant Enhancement Program have until February 6 to submit their applications.

The three-year program is designed to assist member institutions in achieving greater ethnic and gender diversity on their athletics staffs. Although the grants may be used for other purposes, the expectation is that most institutions will use the funds for employment purposes. The NCAA will fund 75 percent of the grant in the first year, 50 percent in the second and 25 percent in the third.

Any active Division II member institution or conference is eligible to apply.
