Montana State University-Bozeman football player Josh Rollins put his sportsmanship ethic to work recently when he was in the right place at the right time. Rollins happened to be at a Bozeman hospital when he was presented with an opportunity to assist someone in need.
Rollins's act of kindness was remembered in print by a woman who wrote the following letter to the Bozeman Chronicle:
"To Montana State University football coach Mike Kramer:
"On May 23, my husband had a heart attack in my car on the way to emergency. He actually went into cardiac arrest for five to 10 minutes. I drove up to the emergency door, honking and yelling.
"On the sidewalk near emergency was a young man waiting for a ride (I believe). His name is Josh Rollins. He had had back surgery and was there for a treatment. He saw my predicament and promptly came to my aid by going into the emergency area and calling for help. The team came to the car and started work on my husband, who is now home and doing pretty well.
"I will never forget the kindness from this most remarkable young man! So as tears come to my eyes, I have to tell you the rest of the story.
"Josh held my hand and stayed with me through it all until my brother came. Josh Rollins -- he cared and was my strength through the most stressful time of my life. It didn't matter that I am 68 years old or was in dire circumstances, he stayed and comforted me as though I were family of his.
"I understand that he had to go back for more surgery now. I pray that things will be OK -- for football and for life.
"I am a Bobcat rooter, even though I have never attended a game. Just wanted you to know the side of this wonderful young man who has called me several times to see how things are going. What a blessing he is in and to my (our) life.
"May all your team be as wonderful as Josh Rollins."
